IEradicator2001 vs IEradicator2001a

IEradicator2001a has the added function of removing the web view
integration from the Explorer Desktop environment.

Specifically IEradicator2001a removes:
* The Sidebar file summaries
* Thumbnail image preview in the sidebar
* Custom graphics for individual folders
* web view.

IEradicator2001 leaves the "enhanced" shell features in place and
just takes out the browser.

WHAT IS IERADICATOR?
--------------------

IEradicator disintegrates all versions of Internet Explorer from
version 3 to 6 from an existing installation of Windows 95, Windows 98,
Windows 98SE, Windows Millennium, Windows 2000, Windows 2000sr1.
(Windows 2000sr2, XP not currently supported). The removal process
eliminates 99% of Internet Explorer's files and registry keys
to clear approximately 30MB of disk space. The remaining 1% is left
behind to maintain compatibility with programs that use the MS HTML
layout engine (e.g. Outlook Express).

IEradicator is offered as UNSUPPORTED LICENSED FREEWARE; You
must read and accept the terms of the enclosed LICENSE. Use of
IEradicator consititutes ACCEPTANCE of all terms of the LICENSE,
whether you have read the licence or not!

Why Uninstall Internet Explorer?
--------------------------------

* Some people just want to be rid of it because they choose to use
a different browser (shock!! horror!)

* IEradicator disintegrates IE from the desktop - so if you install
IE again you will have a faster desktop environment *and* the modern
IE browser of your choosing.

* After an IEradicator removal you have a clean foundation onto
which you can install a more recent version or IE and the result
is likely to be a smoother install and more stable final product
when compared to an upgrade installation.

* Severe problems and Operating system Crashes can sometimes be
solved by removing IE with IERadicator and then reinstalling IE
again (if thats your choice) from the source files. (Such crashes
are the price we pay because someone thought integrating a web
browser into the desktop was a good idea!!)

* Windows 98, ME without Internet Explorer is faster, more stable,
and takes up less space on your hard disk. These "improvements" make
98lite (Windows 9x without IE) a desirable system for people who
are happy to trade some features they rarely or never use to
maximise speed and stability.

Internet Explorer Removal
-------------------------

The IEradicator Internet Explorer removal is NOT reversible and
there is no uninstaller for IEradicator. You just have to
download IE from microsoft and reinstall it (preferably get a later
version that the one that came with your OS.) The only way to
restore the web-view desktop features is to install 98lite
Professional or 98lite Free Preview (http://litePC.com) and use
the "ShellSwap" feature.

You can reinstall Internet Explorer as a stand alone
Browser (just like Netscape) and keep a substantial performance
improvement.

Unlike 98lite, you do NOT need to have a copy of your Windows
setup files on the hard disk.

IEradicator has been upgraded to work on all versions of windows 9x
whether or not they have been pre-customised using utilities such as
98lite.

INSTALLATION - Lets Do it!
------------

Run IEradicator2001.exe

You will be asked to REBOOT; REBOOT IMMEDIATELY

This removal is quite rigorous. If an application breaks,
reinstalling it should put back anything IEradicator deleted,
however such occurences are rare.

If you cannot get your application to work, I suggest you visit
http://www.litePC.com and see if there is a fix, or if not, feel
free to post a request for help on the Message Central notice
board. If you cannot resolve your situation you will just have
to reinstall IE.

- Web-View Shell integration is left intact even after IE removal - this goes
against the original goals of IEradicator but was necessary to stem complaints
(e.g. "I removed IE and now I dont have web-view"...no kidding!?). Now planning
2 versions - an IE cleaner for the wimps, and a total eliminator for the bravehearts.
- Fix IE removal under Windows 95
- Updated for Internet Explorer 6.0
- No longer remove iepeers.dll (used for outlook express network printing)
- No longer remove Windows Update as more and more users are using IEradicator
as a cleaning agent prior to reinstalling a new copy of IE
- Completely re-set and reinitialise the desktop environment to repair any
broken explorer shells/ corrupted registry entries. This alone should help
some people out a lot.
- Disables System file protection in WindowsMe and Windows2000 (original and sr1)
so IE can be removed safely. Win2000sr2 and XP are a little trickier and
are NOT supported in this release (system file protection will attempt to
repair IE as fast as IEradicator rips it out).

- Altered reboot timing to force reboot at the start to free-up system files
