    The sonnet: the sonnet come from Italy where it had been experimented by dante and petrarch- whose Canzoniere had become the model for all European Renaissance poets. This collection contains all the characteristics of the sonnet sequences: love sought, desire of a lady who cannot return the poet’s love. It is the poetry of longing of the great passion for eternal beauty and the contemplaqtion for the perfect form. The Italian sonnet is divided into one octave plus a sestet; the octave present a situation while the sestet contain the solution to the problem or personal reflections. The English sonnet consist of three quatrains and a final couplet.
    The sonnet uses the love for a woman to permit at the poet to high his soul to meet God.
    Society of the time: it was the mirror of the divine order of the universe and in it was had to respect an hierarchy .
    The new elizabethan “hero” full of passions and doubts reflect the old allegorical character
    Renaissance prose: it is very particular. It derived from the medieval prose type and included reports of voyages to unknow countries, sermons, handbooks about business and manners.
    The authors infact began to describe everyday situations and characters. Their heroes were explorers, teachers, merchant so the old character as king or knight slowly disappeared. The new poetry didn’t wanted to teach moral or anything, its mean was to entertain people that now, with the development of mercantile society could live better than in the past so they wanted enjoy his life.
    There was also the development of drama. There are some factors that permitted to the drama to become better. One of these was the persistence of popular costumes of speech and thought and entertainment rooted in the communal life of medieval so literary language was addressed to a mixed public more trained in listening that in reading. So the drama became a communal art and everybody decided to go on the theatre and became common use to go it because everybody could understand what the actors said and the drama became more interesting than in the past because it was considerated as the mirror of society infact on the stage was represented common events. a third factors was the development of a mercantile society meant a rising standard of living for many, a thriving atmosphere in which the newly built theatres could prosper. The new drama was influenced by the umanism activities. With the return of the Latin and greek theatre there were different introduction such as the division of the play in five acts about the tragical and bloody incidents in making good rhetoric.
